Small Refrigerant Recovery Program

Republic's small refrigerant recovery program is fast, simple and flexible. For most customers, their full, standard DOT-approved 30- or 50-pound tanks will be recovered and Republic will return them after the transfer of used refrigerants has been completed.

Large Refrigerant Recovery Program

For recovery jobs in excess of 100 pounds, Republic's Recovery Center stocks 125 and 1,000 pound deposit cylinders. For large recovery jobs, bulk trailers are also available.

Order Agreement

To utilize all the services of the Republic Regional Refrigerant Recovery Center, a simple order agreement must first be signed. This agreement lists the responsibilities of both parties to assure that all regulatory requirements have been met and understood.

On-Site or Off-Site Refrigerant Clean Up

If a customer wishes to have their own refrigerant cleaned and returned to them, Republic offers reclamation services, both on- and off-site, for all refrigerants sold. The used refrigerant is cleaned, tested to ARI specification, and returned to the customer in their own storage containers, or in storage containers purchased from Republic. This option does require a minimum return quantity of 1000 pounds, a clean-up charge for total pounds of product returned, and a freight charge to cover the cost of sending the reclaimed refrigerant back to the customer.

On-site reclamation is also available but is dependent on the location of the customer's facility, the amount of refrigerant to be reclaimed and recycled, and the condition of the refrigerant. Republic's Refrigerant Recovery Center can assist you with this option.

Analytical Testing Services

To assist in making informed decisions on used refrigerant in a system or storage vessel, analytical testing is available. These tests are recommended on all large jobs, and are required on all jobs in excess of 1,000 pounds.

Three analytical tests are available:

  • Level 1: Moisture, Oil and Acidity
  • Level 2: Moisture, Oil, Acidity and Refrigerant Purity
  • Level 3: ARI Standard 700 Specifications

In most applications, the recommended standard analytical test is Level 2.

Storage Cylinders

For long term on-site storage needs of pressurized refrigerants, (such as R12, R22, R502, etc.), Republic's Refrigerant Recovery Center has available for outright purchase 30, 50, 100, and 240 pound recovery cylinders.

100- and 1,000-pound serial numbered deposit cylinders for pressurized refrigerants are available at no charge, provided that a used refrigerant order agreement is signed and used refrigerant will be returned to Republic's Regional Refrigerant Recovery Center within a reasonable period of time.

For non-pressurized refrigerants, (such as R11, R113, and R114), 150, 200, and 350 pound disposable drums are available for outright purchase.

Refrigerant Management Services

The EPA Title VI regulation to reduce refrigerant emissions requires owners/operators of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment containing CFC and HCFC refrigerants to maintain records of refrigerant usage, maintenance and disposal. Noncompliance can result in fines up to $25,000 a day and submission of false or misleading statements can also result in criminal penalties and fines.

As CFCs become a very expensive asset, management of refrigerant makes good business sense. The DuPont Refrigerant Compliance manager software is a refrigerant management system complete with EPA record-keeping capabilities, and is available in two versions: Contractor and Industrial/Institutional.

DuPont's Refrigerant Compliance Manager creates services orders and, after servicing, the the data is recorded and plugged into your system. All the information is automatically updated. This software is reasonably priced, very user-friendly, and a great tool for proper EPA record keeping requirements.

EPA Refrigerant Technician Training/Testing

Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of appliances must be certified by November 14, 1994. Failure to comply can cost you and your company as much as $25,000 per day, per violation; and there is a bounty of up to $10,000 for providing information and/or services concerning violations to the EPA.

The Republic Companies are committed to preparing their customers for changes caused by the Clean Air Act. As a result, since the fall of 1993 the Republic Companies have been conducting EPA certification training and Testing seminars for more than 1,500 participants. Although most seminars are held at Republic, special personalized certification classes can also be held on site at a customer's own training facility. For this service, a minimum of ten participants is required.

Customers within our delivery area can arrange for a Republic driver to pick up their used refrigerant. To take advantage of this free service, contractors should have a "Used Refrigerant Agrement" on file and call Republic in advance to request a used refrigerant pickup.
